Nazim Baydamirli Reportedly Placed in Punishment Cell

The family of imprisoned former member of parliament Nazim Baydamirli has expressed concern about his health condition. According to his wife, Farida Baydamirli, he has not been allowed access to food and medication since May 15.
Farida Baydamirli stated that her husband was first forced to stand under the sun for an entire day and was later placed in a punishment cell.
“We are seriously concerned about Nazim’s life. They are trying to kill him,” she said.
According to her, another inmate at Correctional Facility No. 13 engaged in provocative behavior toward Nazim Baydamirli, and appeals to the prison administration regarding the matter have produced no results.
The family says the former MP suffers from serious health problems and requires regular medication, calling for urgent intervention.
Nazim Baydamirli was arrested in July 2023. He rejects the charges against him and says his imprisonment is linked to the Soyudlu protests. In September 2024, he was sentenced to eight years in prison.
